"Last summer I decided it was time to get serious about working out. Since then I have not missed more than a day or two of workout per week! I feel so much better and am actually disappointed when I miss a day! If I do miss a day, I try to get a walk in with my dog, Baxter. My favorite workout program is the 21 Day Fix. I love the variety that it brings throughout the week. For me, the key to getting in the habit of exercising has been accountability partners. First, it was my sister-in-law, and now I have two close friends on board. We text each other a photo every day after our workout to check in and encourage each other! I highly recommend finding someone who will commit to regular exercise with you!"

"I grew up thinking I wanted to be a soccer player...until my sister, three years younger, decided to develop better skills than me and took over the role of soccer player. :) I then found volleyball, loved the challenge of a new sport, and have always enjoyed being part of a team. Playing volleyball into college, I developed a rhythm of devoting a 'chunk' of my day to physical activity. Since my volleyball career is over, I love that I can now fill that time with different activities to keep active. I grew to love running - mostly because it was the quickest way to get my work out in - ha! My favorite running partners are my dad and my sister. I run almost every day mainly because it clears my head. I recently attempted kickboxing classes and tennis lessons. My fiance, Taylor, played tennis at Calvin and it is my new goal to try to win a set against him (never going to happen, but I can dream. :)
Another one of my favorite things to do is go on a walk with whomever I can get to come with me! Sometimes I coerce/pester my entire family to walk with me. My goal is to try to sweat at least 30 minutes every day. On the days it sounds miserable, I try to remember that I never regret doing something active after it's over and even a little something is better than nothing! :)
I am truly inspired when I see so many of the staff members staying active after working long days! I've seen Graham Schultze win a Super Hero 5K, Sue Pluymert complete an MVP cardio class with far more energy than anyone else in the room, and walked by a group of ladies doing Pilates after school on Friday afternoons - talk about dedication!! Additionally, I see every staff members flying around the elementary school getting their 10,000 steps just making sure every student has his or her needs met. There is that dedication once again."
You all inspire me daily!

"I workout every morning during the week at 5:30am because otherwise, with 2 little ones at home and teaching full time, I wouldn't be able to get it in. After my son was born, I had some health issues with my back and after several weeks of pain, physical therapy and surgery, I told myself I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle for my kids. So, I signed up for the beachbody on demand workouts and started the 21 day fix (workouts and nutritional program). After 3 rounds of the 21 day fix, I had lost all the baby weight. I knew I needed to continue an active lifestyle and wanted to do so mainly for my family but also for my health. I need to workout in order to avoid back pain. Last year, my room mom told me about how she does her workouts with a group of women at 5:30am via the zoom video app so I joined them. I NEVER thought I'd be able to get up so early to workout but now I love it because it gives me energy for my day and I am held accountable by a group of women who are trying to live an active and healthy lifestyle.
Too much? I can cut it shorter if you need me too! Attached is a picture with my son who was up way too early this morning (my kids are usually sleeping while I workout, that's the point!).
